A compact boost converter for charging high-voltage caps has been assembled and tested. It is based on the LM2577 (or LM2585) microcircuit, which I mastered well while working on the stun gun. The presence in this IC of a built-in power switch, generator, error amplifier with a reference source - that is, all the elements of the PWM controller - in addition to a wide range of supply voltages and temperature protection, made it possible to create a simple and reliable design. It is easily repeatable even to untrained people without the HV skills. In addition, the circuit uses a ready-made cheap transformer from AliExpress, which eliminates the need to manufacture an inductive element.
