The Future-weapons forum is down again. This has already happened a couple of years ago, but then, after a short break, it was possible to restore its functionality, although some information is still unavailable. I hope that everything will end well now, too.

We wish our colleagues a fast recovery!

Megavolt continues a line of accelerators for standard 4.5 mm bb balls - this time he has completed the ЩУМ-72 model in the form of a compact pistol of low power. It is included into the Accelerator Table  and, according to the results of the calculation, has a record quality coefficient: G = 55.1% ! This is the maximum value achieved for gauss guns with thyristor switching, only the DB6L half-bridge recovery coilgun is ahead.

In general, there are already twenty accelerators in the Table, apparently in the near future I will do another analysis and ... Read more »

An important thing happened - the legendary "Anvil" GR-1 model from ArcFlashLabs was added to the Accelerator Table. This coilgun, widely advertised last year, participated in many shows, such as the Demolition Ranch or Forgotten Weapons, but its exact parameters were unknown to me for a long time and would have remained a mystery even further if not for the help of Megavolt. Judging by the evaluation results, the characteristics of the GR-1 are very far from ideal (the G-factor is about 25%, which is ... Read more »

A fresh adjunction into the Table of accelerators - new perfect 10mm-ball-firing coilgun added with 100 m\s initial velocity from Megavolt. By the moment, it is the best SCR-driven DIY reluctance accelerator in the World (according to its reported parameters)...

A new article dedicated to measurements of the electrolytic capacitors and their influence on the parameters of a coilgun under construction, added to the experimental section.

The components arrived for the new gauss gun which I conceived for myself for the summer - a 22.2 V LiPo battery, a charger for it, and 50 pieces of 450V 220mkF capacitors. The capacitors turned out to be surprisingly compact (only 18x40 mm), and also with a low internal resistance (Low ESR). At least that's what it says on them...In the near future I will try to measure several pieces for the real values of their parameters.

A new video finished which describes a simple device for testing step-up voltage converters under conditions close to their exploitation (in Gauss guns, railguns etc - everything related to charging and rapid discharge of a massive high-voltage capacitance).

The circuit of the device and demonstration of its functionality are in video, and here are the photo of the test "rig ... Read more »

An article describing my new voltage converter for capacitor charging added to the experimental section. The basic principles of design, photos and test results are given. The output power of the converter is also calculated using an original method.

In addition, an accompanying video with a video description in English versions is posted on my YouTube channel.

New video added describing a simple method to obtain 900 (or higher) V DC (or corresponding bipolar voltage) from a standard 200V/127V AC grid. A device demonstrated which uses these principles to charge a two-branch bank of 450V electrolitic caps connected in series. This mount is a part of my new big stationary accelerator which I am woking on now.

PCBs arrived for the final version of my new flyback converter described in this video. It will be mounted in two sub-types: with positive and negative output voltage. Electronic components are still on their way, so I will publish final test and parameters after they are obtained and the converter assembled.
